A project developed with the program Young Talent scholarship from FAPERJ and Science Center of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Cecierj) - which provides scholarships for high school students in higher education institutions in Rio de Janeiro - just won first place in Day of Scientific Initiation of Music School of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Coordinated by professor and researcher at the School of Music of UFRJ Samuel Mello Araujo Junior, the study "Role of women in music: reproduction of male dominance or disruption to achieve equality?" was developed by young residents of the Tide in the slums of New Holland and the Low Shoemaker and sought to analyze the role of women in bands of forró, pagode and funk - the products with the greatest concentration of groups in these communities. According to Samuel Araujo, the study found that in these musical groups, women develop their own language, not limited only to copy the influences of the male universe.
THE PROJECT YOUNG TALENTS, is a program is pre-scientific initiation, established in 1999, with the executing agencies Foundation for Research Support Carlos Chagas Filho - FAPERJ Science Center and the Foundation of the State of Rio de Janeiro - CECIERJ . The project has partnerships with research institutions and public and private universities of the State of Rio de Janeiro and through them, the students enter public schools in high school and pre-professional undergraduates
